Q: How would you describe yourself, and what motivates and energizes you in your professional life?
A: I think I am a very positive person and am able to communicate well with others. Both of these things really help me do my job. There are many things that keep me motivated in my professional life, aside from wanting a comfortable living for me and my son. I look at each problem or issue that I encounter at work as a challenge. I don’t look at challenges negatively, because if there were no challenges at work, then perhaps I would not be needed. So I try to complete each challenge to the best of my ability, and at the end of the day if my customer is satisfied, then I have done my job.

Q: Why did you choose Verigy?
A: I had offers from other companies, but when I came and met the people that I would be working with, I knew that this was the place for me. You could just feel the positive energy in the office. And every employee I spoke with seemed to love the company. Since we spend so much time at work, it is really important to find a place to work that not only challenges you, but that you also enjoy. The pay was very competitive, so I left all my family and friends and took the job in Austin, Texas. Verigy has become like my extended family. People here are not just colleagues, they are also friends. I have never regretted this decision.

Q: How do you think the people at Verigy differ from other places you’ve worked?
A: There are a lot of collaborative efforts. At other companies, I have found that people will do whatever they can to get ahead, even if it means putting others down or not sharing information. Verigy has a completely different culture. People here want you to succeed, because we are only able to succeed together. Even part of our bonus structure is based on the overall success of the company, not just on one group or individual. I think all of these things make for a very positive work environment.

Q: What do you love about your job or what do you find the most rewarding?
A: Helping customers. Although customers can be challenging sometimes, it is very rewarding knowing that I help them make their experience using our test equipment positive.

Q: What cool projects have you worked on?
A: I have had the opportunity to travel to supporting manufacturing sites around the world. Aside from trips within the United States, I have had the opportunity to travel to Taiwan, Malaysia, China (3 times) and Germany. Not only was I able to help customers in a different part of the world, I was also able to take time to enjoy the benefits of the job and see things like the Great Wall, trying authentic food of each region. It was great.

Q: What is unique about your role? How is it different from other places you’ve worked?
A: My role is unique because I work with customers almost daily. The customer facing interaction is very different than other companies I have worked for. You are the first in line to hear of a problem, but also can be the first to be able to help them get an issue resolved. That real time interaction makes the job challenging, but also very rewarding.

Q: How do you balance work/life issues?
A: Prioritizing my goals both inside and outside of work helps me with work/life balance. I stay focused while at work, and when I leave the office I try to make sure to do the things I enjoy – playing sports, going out with friends, and doing fun activities with my son. I also make sure to put personal events on my work calendar, so I make sure not to overlook important activities.
