Q: How would you describe yourself, and what motivates and energizes you in your professional life?
A: Professionally, I’m focused, results driven and disciplined. I rarely take “no” for an answer, and always follow through. I have good people and communication skills, am friendly and pleasant to work with, and I’m a great team player. I’m flexible, adaptable and good at multi-tasking and prioritizing while always looking ahead. I’m able to put myself into someone else’s shoes and see their point of view.

Challenging situations energize and motivate me, and I’m most satisfied when I can find a solution to the problem and recipients are happy.

Q: Why did you choose Verigy?
A: I worked as a semiconductor IC test engineer for many years before becoming an AE. Although I enjoyed IC testing and was good at what I did, I missed the people interaction part. To me, interacting with people and delivering solutions that help them makes me happy. ATE applications became my natural choice of career. When I joined HP over 12 years ago, I was very impressed by the engineering craftsmanship and my co-workers’ work ethics. I was always given the opportunity to challenge and develop myself and to further my professional career. When Agilent spun off from HP and then Verigy from Agilent, I naturally went with Verigy. It’s the best fit for a technical, people-positive problem solver like me.

Q: How do you think the people at Verigy differ from other places you’ve worked?
A: Verigy people are friendly and willing to help each other. I always feel supported by my peers, and the managers are easy to approach.

Q: What do you love about your job or what do you find the most rewarding?
A: I love my AE job because it offers not only the technical aspects but also requires ‘soft skills’ around people interaction. Delivering a solution to a specific technical problem is usually the easy part. How to work around a sticky situation and create a positive influence without offending customer is an art. A good AE needs to have a strong technical background, but at same time, be self-confident with good listening and communication skills. To me, this makes AE job very interesting and rewarding.

Q: What is most challenging about your job?
A: When you work with different types of people, there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ recipe. Creating a positive influence and motivating people to achieve the ultimate goal in a timely manner is challenging.

Q: How do you balance work/life issues?
A: Multi-tasking and prioritizing are the key to success for me. When a time-critical situation arises, I always make plans and follow them through. I work hard, but work even smarter. For every problem, I always think of at least two solutions to make sure that one of them will work. Having an understanding family is also very important.
